We are looking for an experienced baker with a passion for their craft to join our team. Bakers are a specialised type of pastry chef, their role includes measuring flour and other ingredients, using levain, blending, kneading and shaping dough, applying fondant and other glazes. Our philosophy is about creating and baking treats from scratch daily that taste and look beautiful, honouring traditional recipes, using local and seasonal ingredients. We bake on a small scale, allowing us to be fully hands on production. This position requires you to work across all aspects of our products from laminating our croissant dough to baking off all the morning pastries and breads and assisting in setting up the shop, making doughs, choux pastry, decorating with fondant, ..etc. We do not use any packaged products or bag mixes.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • working to a production schedule to prepare all products from scratch
  • preparation of ingredients for daily production
  • operating mixers and other related equipment
  • dividing and moulding artisan breads and sweet doughs by hand
  • finishing of products to a consistently high standard
  • general and cleaning duties as required
  • must be flexible, reliable and have a can-do attitude

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will be qualified and have 2 or more years experience in French bread production preferably and be prepared to work to a high standard in a fast paced environment.

  • experience in artisan baking in a professional food service or bakery environment
  • an eye for detail with an appreciation of good bread
  • a positive attitude and a willingness to learn from an experienced team
  • strong organisational and time management skills
  • excellent food hygiene standards with an understanding of HACCP preferred
  • excellent physical fitness
